Jo Mock Pugh

04/09/1953 - 12/09/2018

Jo Mock Pugh

Jo was born Jo Lorraine Mock in Sabetha on April 9, 1953, to Jack and Vernelle Mock. She lived her entire school life in Sabetha and was a faithful Bluejay, Class of 1971. You could often see Jo (Jody) at Sycamore Springs outside of Sabetha where she taught swimming lessons and life guarded every summer of high school. Jo attended two years at Kansas State University in the horticulture field.

She married the love of her life and best friend, Bill Pugh, in 1981. He survives. Bill and Jo enjoyed living two years in McAllen, Texas, and six years in Palatka, Fla., but have lived 28 years in Wooster (with a detour living in Dalton, Ohio, for six years.) The real home for Jo was still Sabetha, where she maintained very deep friendships. Also deep friendships remain with a group of “sisters in purple” from Kansas State University, where they had lived in a dorm together.

Jo had a multi-faceted life with many interests and jobs. Mostly she enjoyed being a wife and mother. Jo believed highly in volunteering. She volunteered at several churches during the years and helped with the Nehemiah Mission in Cleveland through the Wooster United Methodist Church. Also, Jo was a longtime volunteer at the Habitat Restore in Wooster, Ohio, in many different capacities. For several years, you could find her volunteering at the local equine therapy arenas, as horses were a first love. Jo also worked several years for area preschools as an aid.
Jo and Bill shared their lives with two sons, Mitchell Pugh, deceased, and Scott Pugh of Wooster, Ohio. Scott’s fiancé, Hayley Rambo, and grandsons Brody and Masyn Pugh have joined our little family.

Jo’s father Jack Mock died in 1992, and Jo’s mother Vernelle Mock still resides in Sabetha and has been constant source of wisdom, strength and faith these many years. Jo’s brother Greg Mock and sister-in-law Deann Mock reside in Sabetha as well. Also surviving are two special aunts, Jeannine Mock of Overland Park and Mary Ann Mock of Topeka. Jo’s extended family includes Gene and Carol Pugh, Scott and Janet Pugh, Joe and Cyndi Harmon, and mother-in-law Esther Pugh. Surviving also are several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
